The Mental Reps:

Journaling for Strength, Clarity, and Healing

Less anxiety & stress:

A 12-week online journaling study (70 adults with elevated anxiety) showed lower mental distress, better well-being, and improved physical functioning.

Immune boost:

Short bouts of journaling (≈20 min/day for 3–5 sessions; Baikie & Wilhelm, 2005) were linked to better immune markers, including lower blood pressure and improved lung/liver function.

Better mood:

Expressive writing (deep thoughts/feelings) reliably improves mood and reduces emotional distress.

Improved sleep:

Gratitude journaling before bed leads to better sleep quality and fewer disturbances by clearing the mind and easing anxiety.
